Come Follow Me: Thoughts to Keep in Mind: The Tabernacle and Sacrifice

Come Follow Me: Thoughts to Keep in Mind: The Tabernacle and Sacrifice Introduction: The Tabernacle was a portable temple. Temples are places of worship and sacrifice; but today, we don’t offer animal sacrifice. That ended with the Atonement of Jesus Christ. There is much symbolism connected with temple worship, ancient and modern. The animal sacrifice pointed to the life and mission and sacrifice of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (see Alma 25:16 ; Jacob 4:5 ; Jarom 1:11 ). How does the Tabernacle (and the temple today) point to and strengthen our faith in Jesus Christ? Exodus 25:8 It provided a place for Jesus to dwell with His people. Vs 10-22 The Tabernacle and the Ark of the Covenant inside the Holy of Holies represented God’s presence among His people. Once a year, on a day called the Day of Atonement, the high priest would offer sacrifices on behalf of the people before entering alone into the tabernacle. The high priest would symbolically make an atonement f...

Come Follow Me 18: Exodus 24; 31-34

Come Follow Me Lesson 18: Exodus 24; 31-34 Introduction: “All that the Lord hath said will we do, and be obedient” ( Exodus 24:7 ). The children of Israel made this covenant at Mt. Sinai. Will I make this covenant too? Yes, I have done so in the temple. We also make this covenant weekly as we take the sacrament. Do we always make it to the next week being perfectly obedient? Neither did the children of Israel at that day. How do we also make our own golden calf after making covenants with the Lord? How can we do better? Every week we covenant to always remember Him? What will help us keep this covenant all through each day? “ We know from experience that faith and commitment can sometimes be overcome by impatience, fear, or doubt.” What can I personally do to keep the faith? As we seek the Lord’s presence in our lives, it is encouraging to know that the Lord did not give up on ancient Israel and He will not give up on us—for He is “merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and...

Come Follow Me 17: Exodus 18-20

Come Follow Me Lesson 17: Exodus 18-20 Introduction: Are you noticing the abundance of miracles in your own life? These are “undeniable manifestations of the Lord’s matchless power, love, and mercy” for you! The Lord wants to give us greater treasures than providing for our daily physical needs. He want everyone to be blessed through entering into the covenant with Him. He wants us to be blessed with Priesthood power and to become His “peculiar treasure,” and a “holy nation”. Exodus 19:5–6 In our day, the invitation to cooffme unto Christ and enter into the covenant is extended to all people, first through baptism, and later through further endowments in the temple. We become His covenant people when weobey His voice indeed, and keep His covenant” Exodus 19:5 . He extends His mercy to all those that love Him and keep his commandments.  Come Follow Me 15: Exodus 14-17 Come Follow Me Lesson 15: Exodus 14-17 Introduction: How are you doing at keeping a record? Do you follow the Spirit in what to record and what to share? What does it mean to hold your peace? What does it mean to fear not and stand still? This story of deliverance at ...

Come Follow Me Lesson 14: Exodus 7-13 Introduction: There were many plagues, but Pharaoh refused to hearken to the Lord. Each time, the Lord gave him another chance. Finally, only those who put the lamb’s blood on their door posts were passed over. Only when the blood of Jesus Christ is applied to us through faith, repentance, and the forgiveness of sins do we gain a new life. Personal Study: Exodus 7-11 How Much Better is it for Us if We Choose to Soften our Hearts? What do we need to do to soften our hearts? What sacrifice does the Lord require of us in our day? How do we achieve that and maintain that? Who hardened Pharaoh’s heart? To what degree our we responsible for our own reactions and for hanging on to a hard heart? Come Follow Me 13: Exodus 1-6

Come Follow Me Lesson 13: Exodus 1-6 Introduction: The new Pharaoh didn’t know or care for Joseph or his family. The Pharaoh in Joseph’s day had respect for Joseph and for Joseph’s God. Not only did Joseph’s interpretations and visions save his household, but also the Pharaoh’s and Egypt’s and many peoples. The Israelites probably wondered if God had forgotten and forsaken them. But, had they forgotten and foraken God? When troubles occur do I turn to God? Do I also turn to him in prosperity and peace? We need to remember that our loving Heavenly Father will never forget or forsake us. Are we sanctifying ourselves? (see Doctrine and Covenants 88:68 ) Do we remember that the Lord has delivered us, and do we have faith that He will yet deliver us? W hat bondage do you need to be released from? (See Exodus 6:6–7 ) From the Bible Dictionary, “The book of Exodus thus gives the early history of the nation in three clearly marked stages: first, a nation enslaved; then a nation redeem...
