Introduction:
How to Obtain
Revelation and Inspiration for Your Personal Life
2 Kings 24:10–16 Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego were taken captive when they were very young.
They were true in the face of severe trials. What about you? How can practicing faith bless you to remain true? What are some of the things we do to exercise faith?
Personal Study: I can trust in the Lord when my faith is
tried.
How can we stay true when we are pressured to abandon our beliefs?
Alma 14:8–13 Those who believed Alma and Amulek were burned alive with their scriptures. Whether we are saved like Daniel or our lives are taken, the Lord will ultimately protect and deliver us if we remain true to Him?

Daniel
and certain Hebrews are trained in the court of Nebuchadnezzar—They eat plain
food and drink no wine—God gives them knowledge and wisdom beyond all others.
Vs 3-4 The king of
Babylon desired the children of Judah in his court. Why is that?
Vs 12-13 Daniel and his companions did not want to drink
wine or rich foods that weren't healthy for them. They asked for time to show
that theirs was a better way.
Vs 15-20 They were healthy and given favor with God and
men.
Personal Study: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the kingdom of God on
earth.
Daniel 2:44 The Church is the Latter-day kingdom that Daniel
was blessed to see and interrupt from Nebuchadnezzar’s dream.
Think about God’s
latter-day kingdom as you read the descriptions of the stone in Daniel
2:34–35, 44–45.
The Stone Cut Out of
the Mountain,” and “The Time Shall Come,”

Nebuchadnezzar’s
dream is revealed to Daniel—The king saw a great image, a stone cut from the
mountain without hands destroyed the image, and the stone grew and filled the
whole earth—The stone is the latter-day kingdom of God.
Vs 14-18 Daniel sought
the Lord's help to know and interpret the king's dream. In his faith and
wisdom, he saved the wise men of the kingdom. his companions prayed and
practiced faith with him.
Vs 19-23 Daniel praise the Lord and returned all the
glory to Him.
Vs 28-35 The king’s dream.
Vs 44-45 God's kingdom
shall break in pieces and consume all earthly kingdoms. He shall rule forever
and His kingdom shall stand forever.
Daniel 2:47 The king,
Nebuchadnezzer, answered unto Daniel,
and said, Of a truth it is, that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing thou
couldest reveal this secret.

Nebuchadnezzar
creates a golden image and commands all men to worship it—Shadrach, Meshach,
and Abed-nego refuse and are cast into the fiery furnace—They are preserved and
come out unharmed.
Vs 12-18 They knew God
could deliver them, but even if He did not, they would not worship false gods.
Vs 24-30 The king saw the
angel of the Lord (or the Lord Himself) in with those who had thrown into the
fiery furnace. He is convinced that their God is the true and living God.

Daniel
interprets Nebuchadnezzar’s dream of the great tree, describing the king’s fall
and madness—The king learns that the Most High rules and sets the basest of men
over earthly kingdoms.
Vs 34-37 and all proceeding verses: Nebuchadnezzar had great things shown unto him by God. He had faith, but he also had pride. This dream was a warning to him. He tried to heed what Daniel told him, but he was proud and took the honor and glory of his kingdom to himself. The Lord humbled him, and when he repented, his kingdom was returned unto him again. He praised adn extoled and honored the King of Heaven.

Belshazzar
and his revelers drink from the vessels of the temple—A hand writes upon the
wall, telling of Belshazzar’s downfall—Daniel interprets the words and reproves
the king for pride and idolatry—That night Babylon is conquered.
Belshazzar,
Nebuchadnezzer's son, is idoatrous and prideful. The Lord warns him with
writing on the wall, which Daniel interprets. Belshazzar is slain and the
kingdom taken.

Vs 10-12 You can kneel
upon your knees three times a day and pray to your Father in Heaven.
You can spend time giving
thanks to the Lord God in your prayers.
You can continue in prayer
and supplication to God throughout the day.
You should fear God more
than man and worship only the true and living God.
Vs 16 The king has Daniel
delivered to the lion’s den for his words’ sake. But he trusts God will deliver
Daniel.
Vs 18 The king prayed and
fasted all night for Daniel.
Vs 19-23 The king was very
glad to find that Daniel’s God had closed the mouths of the lions and saved
Daniel.
When has God saved you
from ravenous lions?
Daniel
6:25–27 The king, Darius, sent a proclamation to the people that Daniel’s
God saved him and that He is the True and Living God.
Daniel 2:47 The king,
Nebuchadnezzer, answered unto Daniel,
and said, Of a truth it is, that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing thou
couldest reveal this secret.
3:28–29 Nebuchadnezzer also sent a
proclamation to the people that they should serve and worship the Only True and
Living God.
When have you seen faith
increase in others and their lives affected for God by choosing to worship and
serve the Lord?

Darius
makes Daniel the first of his presidents—Daniel worships the Lord in defiance
of a decree of Darius—He is cast into the den of lions—His faith saves him, and
Darius decrees that all people are to revere the God of Daniel.
When have you seen others set up a trap to catch someone who worships and serves God? True religion has always been under attack. Daniel was not destroyed by the lions, but the people who sought to have Daniel killed were.
