Come Follow Me: Reading: Numbers 15-19

Come Follow Me: Reading: Numbers 15-19

3-10-22 I read these chapters 15 and 16 this morning and did take notes, but I inadvertently deleted my documents when I was cleaning up my desktop for One Drive. So I just need to move on.

Numbers 15: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/scriptures/ot/num/15?lang=eng

Quick review:

How do the marks on your temple garment remind you of the Lord’s commandments and your covenants?

Review of sacrificing made for sinning ignorantly and willfully. If willful, cut off from people.

Man gathering sticks on Sabbath stoned to death.

Numbers 16: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/scriptures/ot/num/16?lang=eng

Quick review:

Men who want to take glory to themselves and think that they are equal to Moses in their ability to lead the people. They have no respect to God’s chosen prophet. The Lord never looks kindly on Priestcraft.

Those who choose to prove that they are “all it” and swallowed up by the earth and everything that belongs to them. They didn’t die a common death, but were destroyed immediately.

How does not following the Lord’s prophet bring death upon us?

Others that still have the spirit of contention and dissension are destroyed by a plague.

Key verses:

vs 3: They don’t acknowledge that Moses is called of God.

Vs 9-10: They seek for things that have not been bestowed upon them. We should be content with the blessings that we have been given and receive them with gratitude. Trust in the Lord and in His prophets.

Numbers 17: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/scriptures/ot/num/17?lang=eng

The Tribe of Levi was chosen to bear the Priesthood and do the temple ordinances. Each tribe brought forth a rod. Aaron’s rod bloomed; the others didn’t. This was kept as a memorial, to put to rest the contention among the people, that they should not contend for that which was not appointed unto them.

Numbers 18: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/scriptures/ot/num/18?lang=eng

Aaron and his sons are called to minister in the priest’s office—Levites are called to minister in the service of the tabernacle—Levites receive no land inheritance but are supported by the tithes of the people.

Respect the calling and the office. Don’t boast yourself that you could do better.

Therefore thou and thy sons with thee shall keep your priest’s office for every thing of the altar, and within the veil; and ye shall serve: I have given your priest’s office unto you as a service of gift: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.

The Lord charged the Tribe of Levi with the Priesthood and temple ordinances. That was their inheritance. They were set apart and did not have an inheritance among the tribes; but, were there to serve them as the first born (in place of the first born) out of each tribe.

Numbers 19: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/scriptures/ot/num/19?lang=eng

19 And the clean person shall sprinkle upon the unclean on the third day, and on the seventh day: and on the seventh day he shall purify himself, and wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and shall be clean at even.
