Come Follow Me: Testimony

I read the Old Testament this year, along with our home Sunday school text, Come, Follow Me. This has been such a blessing to me. The truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ is found throughout the Old Testament, with the commandments to love God and love our neighbors; and the admonition continually to remember our deliverance from slavery and the blessings our fathers and mothers received, and as a result we have too.

I love reading the Law and the Prophets, and I am so thankful that these messages have been preserved for us today. I testify that they are true, and that Jesus is the Christ of the New Testament, and the Jehovah of the Old Testament. I also testify that Jesus is the Resurrected Christ that again appeared to His disciples both in the land of his nativity and in the Americas.

The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ is an important added witness for our day that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true, that the Resurrected Jesus Christ is real! It’s a necessary witness of hope to all the declining civilizations of our world, that Jesus’s promise is true and will be realized, as spoken by His angels as He ascended into heaven:

“Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven” (Act 1:11).

I am thankful for the understanding that the last book of the Old Testament, Malachi, adds to the mission of the Church in these last days, to link families together in unity and love, not just for this life, but for eternity. There is power in that. Jesus came to save us all, as sons and daughters of Adam and Eve, and as sons and daughters of our Heavenly Parents. God our Father desires our happiness, and Jesus is our Way to salvation, happiness, and eternal life. His commission to us is, “Come, Follow Me.”

Come Follow Me Lesson 51 “I Have Loved You, Saith the Lord” Introduction: Malachi means My messenger. What messages did the Lord give Malachi have for you? What messages does he have for the world? Do you trust that the Lord loves you even in adversity? You should. “I have loved you,” the Lord told His people through the prophet Malachi.
