Come Follow Me Reading: Deuteronomy 9-14
Deuteronomy 9: https://abn.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/scriptures/ot/deut/9?lang=eng
Other nations are driven out of Canaan because of their wickedness—Moses
rehearses the rebellions of Israel and tells how he mediated between the people
and the Lord—On two occasions he went without food and water for forty days.
3 Understand therefore
this day, that the Lord thy God is he
which goeth over before thee;
After fasting 40 days, Moses received two plates that contained writings
by the finger of God. Because of Israel’s idolatry, he broke those plates.
Again he fasted 40 days. Moses prayed mightily for his people and for his
brother Aaron.
27 Remember thy servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; look not unto the stubbornness of this people, nor to their wickedness, nor to their sin:
Deuteronomy 10: https://abn.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/scriptures/ot/deut/10?lang=eng
The tables of stone containing the Ten Commandments are placed in the
ark—All that God requires is that Israel love and serve Him—How great and
mighty is the Lord!
This time
Moses created the set of plates to be written on.
12 ¶ And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but
to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in
all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,
13 To
keep the commandments of
the Lord,
and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?
15 Only the Lord had a delight in thy fathers to love them, and he chose their seed after
them, even you
above all people, as it is this
day.
16 Circumcise therefore the foreskin of
your heart, and be no
more stiffnecked.
18 He doth execute the judgment
of the fatherless and widow, and loveth the stranger, in giving him food and raiment.
19 Love ye therefore the stranger: for ye were strangers in the land of
Egypt.
20 Thou
shalt fear the Lord thy
God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave, and swear by his name.
21 He is thy praise, and
he is thy
God, that hath done for thee these great and terrible things, which thine eyes
have seen.
Deuteronomy
11: https://abn.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/scriptures/ot/deut/11?lang=eng
Thou shalt love and obey the Lord thy God—If the children of Israel obey, they will be blessed with rain and harvests and will drive out mighty nations—Israel must learn God’s laws and teach them—Blessings flow from obedience; cursings attend disobedience.
1 Therefore thou
shalt love the Lord thy God, and
keep his charge, and his
statutes, and his judgments, and
his commandments, alway.
Remember your deliverance from Egypt and the care the Lord showed to you
in the wilderness.
7 But
your eyes have seen all the great acts of the Lord which he did.
8 Therefore
shall ye keep all the commandments which I command you this day, that ye may
be strong, and go in
and possess the
land, whither ye go to possess it;
9 And
that ye may prolong your days in the land,
which the Lord sware
unto your fathers to
give unto them and to their seed, a land that floweth with milk and honey.
12 A
land which the Lord thy
God careth for: the eyes of the Lord thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of
the year even unto the end of the year.
13 ¶ And it shall come to pass, if ye shall
hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the Lord your God, and
to serve him
with all your heart and with all your soul,
14 That
I will give you the rain of your land in his
due season, the first rain
and the latter rain,
that thou mayest gather in thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil.
15 And
I will send grass in thy fields for thy cattle, that thou mayest eat and be
full.
18 ¶ Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and
bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your
eyes.
19 And
ye shall teach them
your children,
speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the
way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
20 And
thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house, and upon thy gates:
21 That
your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which
the Lord sware
unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the earth.
27 A blessing, if ye obey the
commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you this day:
32 And ye shall observe to do all the statutes and judgments which I set before you this day.
Deuteronomy

Israel is to destroy the Canaanite gods and places of worship—The Lord
will designate where His people will worship—The eating of blood is
forbidden—Israel’s worship must conform to the divine standard.
Living the law of tithing and offering
sacrifices to the Lord is what will help us to rejoice! Vs 11-12
Vs 18 If we put the Lord first, then he will
make a way for us to rejoice in the works that we do.
28 Observe and hear all these words which I command thee, that
it may go well with
thee, and with thy children after thee for ever, when thou doest that
which is good
and right in the sight of the Lord thy God.
32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt
not add thereto, nor diminish from it.
Our worship should be as the Lord would have it.
Deuteronomy
13: https://abn.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/scriptures/ot/deut/13?lang=eng
The Lord tests His people to see if they will worship false
gods—Prophets, dreamers, relatives, or friends who advocate worship of false
gods will be put to death—Idolatrous cities will be destroyed.
Vs 1-5 Those who draw people away from the
Lord would be put to death. They are spiritually dead, and they bring death to
those who will be enticed by them.
Deuteronomy 14:https://abn.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/scriptures/ot/deut/14?lang=eng
The Israelites are children of the Lord Jehovah—Unclean beasts, fish,
and fowl are not to be eaten—The Israelites are to tithe all the increase of
their seed annually.
2 For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God, and the Lord hath chosen thee to be a peculiar
people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth.
Do those things that the Lord asks, and do not worry about what others
say or do. Follow Jesus.
22 Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth
forth year by year.
Vs 28-29 Tithing was used to take care of the Levites, the poor, and strangers.
