Come Follow Me Reading: Deuteronomy 31-33

Deuteronomy 31: https://abn.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/scriptures/ot/deut/31?lang=eng

Moses counsels Joshua and all Israel to be strong and of good courage—The law is to be read to all Israel every seven years.

Vs 3 The Lord goes before to prepare the way. Joshua will lead the children of Israel into the promised land. Then name Joshua is the same as Jesus.

Vs 5-6 The Lord gave the Israelites the Promised Land, and the Gentiles the Americas, so that we could keep His commandments and become His people. If we follow Him, we can be strong and of a good courage, because He will then fight our battles.

Vs 7-8 Moses told Joshua the Lord's words, and he told Joshua to be strong and of good courage. The Lord called Joshua to lead the Israelites.

Vs 10-11 Law to be read at the Feast of the Tabernacle.

Vs 22 What is the song that the Lord commanded Moses to teach the people?

Vs 23 Joshua became the prophet and leader of the people. Be strong and of a good courage.

Vs 24-26 Moses finished writing his books and had them put alongside the Ark of the Covenant.

Deuteronomy 32: https://abn.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/scriptures/ot/deut/32?lang=eng

Israel will sing the song of Moses and acclaim: God speaks to heaven and earth; the children of Israel were known in the premortal life; God chose them in this life; they forgot the Rock of their salvation; He sent terror, a sword, and vengeance upon them; there is no God beside Him—Moses will be gathered to his people.

This chapter may be the song Moses taught the children of Israel.

He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.

Do ye thus requite the Lord, O foolish people and unwise? is not he thy father that hath bought thee? hath he not made thee, and established thee?

Vs 7 ff Look to your history, to the laws, the prophets, and the testimony.

Vs 15, 18 Remember Jesus, the Rock of our Salvation.

Vs 20 The First Principle of the Gospel is to have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Vs 29 Do not just live for the pleasure of the moment. Keep an eternal perspective.

Vs 44 Yes, these are the words of the song.

Vs 46-47 Keeping the commandments, obeying Jesus, following the prophets is not a vain thing to do. It is life.

Moses saw the land, but was to die before the Israelites entered.

Deuteronomy 33: https://abn.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/scriptures/ot/deut/33?lang=eng

Moses blesses the tribes of Israel—Levi is blessed to teach the Lord’s judgments and His law—Joseph is blessed above all; the Lord will gather Israel in the latter days—Israel will triumph.

Vs 16-17: The blessing to Joseph's posterity.

16 And for the precious things of the earth and fulness thereof, and for the good will of him that dwelt in the bush: let the blessing come upon the head of Joseph, and upon the top of the head of him that was separated from his brethren.

17 His glory is like the firstling of his bullock, and his horns are like the horns of unicorns: with them he shall push the people together to the ends of the earth: and they are the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they are the thousands of Manasseh.

27 The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them.

28 Israel then shall dwell in safety alone: the fountain of Jacob shall be upon a land of corn and wine; also his heavens shall drop down dew.

29 Happy art thou, O Israel: who is like unto thee, O people saved by the Lord, the shield of thy help, and who is the sword of thy excellency! and thine enemies shall be found liars unto thee; and thou shalt tread upon their high places.
