Come Follow Me 49
Introduction:
How does the Lord feel about pride and wickedness? What
other maladies plague societies and nations today? How can you guard against
the tide of evil surrounding you?
How do these prophets both proclaim destruction and deliverance? How important
is it to you to be delivered from pride, arrogance, greed, hypocrisy, and other
evils of our day? What can you do to stay safe?
Look for the invitations to “Come unto Christ”, to seek righteousness and meekness.
Zephaniah 2:3 Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord’s anger.
Habakkuk 3:6
“His ways are everlasting.”
Personal Study: The Lord is both powerful and merciful.
Nahum speaks of God’s wrath and matchless power, and also of His mercy and goodness.
While God is good Nahum 1:7, He will also execute wrath upon His enemies Nahum 1:2. (Alma explained this more to his son Corianton, in Alma 42)
It is important to remember that our Father is a God with bodies, parts, and passions. He has perfect control over all His attributes, and we are seeking to learn how to bridle our own passions.
“The Lord is good, a
strong hold in the day of trouble” (Nahum 1:7).
Family Study: Nahum 1:7.
Do we live in a day
of trouble?
Do we hold fast to the Iron Rod, to the Word of God, to Jesus Christ?
Does He have a strong hold on us to protect us in today’s world? His hand is
stretched out still.
