Come Follow Me: Testimony

Come Follow Me: Testimony 27 December 2022 I read the Old Testament this year, along with our home Sunday school text, Come, Follow Me. This has been such a blessing to me. The truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ is found throughout the Old Testament, with the commandments to love God and love our neighbors; and the admonition continually to remember our deliverance from slavery and the blessings our fathers and mothers received, and as a result we have too. I love reading the Law and the Prophets, and I am so thankful that these messages have been preserved for us today. I testify that they are true, and that Jesus is the Christ of the New Testament, and the Jehovah of the Old Testament. I also testify that Jesus is the Resurrected Christ that again appeared to His disciples both in the land of his nativity and in the Americas. The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ is an important added witness for our day that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true, that the Resurrected J...

Come Follow Me 51

Come Follow Me Lesson 51 “I Have Loved You, Saith the Lord” Introduction: Malachi means My messenger. What messages did the Lord give Malachi have for you? What messages does he have for the world? Do you trust that the Lord loves you even in adversity? You should. “I have loved you,” the Lord told His people through the prophet Malachi. But the Israelites, who had suffered generations of affliction and captivity, asked the Lord, “Wherein hast thou loved us?” ( Malachi 1:2 ). After all Israel had been through, they may have wondered whether the history of ancient Israel is really a story of God’s love for His covenant people. What evidences have you seen in the Old Testament of God’s love for His people, and for you? When the sons of Jacob mistreated their brother Joseph, the Lord still prepared a way to save them from famine (see  Genesis 45:4–8 ). When Israel murmured in the wilderness, God fed them with manna (see  Exodus 16:1–4 ). Even when Israel abandoned Hi...

Come Follow Me 52 Christmas Lesson

Come Follow Me 52 Christmas Lesson Our faith and hope is in our Savior Jesus Christ. Jesus was born to deliver all people. Isaiah 53:4–5 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. We celebrate the story of Jesus Christ’s birth today, because He was born to be the Savior of all the people who’ve ever lived, from Adam and Eve to the end of the world. Why do you feel joyful at Christmas? The hope that our Savior brings to us all; families gather together; people give gifts to each other; we think of ways to serve and bless the lives of others; there is a spirit of anticipation and gift-giving. We are thankful that Heavenly Father sent His Son to make our lives happier, bring us comfort, peace, and joy, and deliver us from pain, sin, and death. How do the symbols we use in our Christmas traditions remind us of J...

CHRISTMAS   Come Follow Me Lesson 52 “We Have Waited for Him, and He Will Save Us”                For unto Us a Child Is Born,  by Simon Dewey Introduction: How has the Old Testament strengthened your faith in Jesus Christ? The Old Testament people looked forward to the better world that Christ would bring. We too are looking forward to the return of the Messiah. Our faith is also centered in Jesus Christ and the hope, renewal, and deliverance that He alone can bring. Our  faith and hope is in our Savior Jesus Christ. Isaiah 61:1  The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound. Jesu...
