Introduction:
The Psalms are still great tools for conveying gospel truths and spiritual insights through poetry.
Personal Study: The Psalms teach us to trust the Lord. The
Psalms point our minds to the life and ministry of Jesus Christ.
We all experience feelings and emotions. The Psalms can help
us in dealing with them.
As you read the Psalms look for the following things:
- Invitations to trust the Lord:
- Words that describe the Lord:
- Words that describe the peace, strength, and other blessings He provides:
- Words that describe those who trust Him:
The Psalms point our minds to the life and ministry of
Jesus Christ.

Blessed
are the righteous—The ungodly will perish.

iniquity—David acknowledges his sin—He recommends that the righteous be glad in
the Lord and rejoice.

Rejoice
in the Lord—Sing unto Him a new song—He loves righteousness and
judgment—Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.
Our nation needs to make
God our Lord again.
Vs 5 No matter what goes
wrong, the earth is still full of the goodness of the Lord. Look for it!
Vs 11-12 Always choose to
wait upon the Lord, and try to be the leaven that lifts.
Vs 18-22 Put all your faith, trust, and hope in the Lord. He will deliver.

magnified.

Vs 8-11 Though David
had sinned, he always taught and declared the Lord and His salvation. Now he
was seeking salvation even for himself.
Vs 13 Make haste,
make haste to save me. Hear my cry; redeem me though unworthy. Oh, Divine
Redeemer.

God is our refuge and strength—He dwells in His city, does
marvelous things, and says, Be still and know that I am God.

Vs 1, 10-11 We need to know that we can find refuge in God and that He will fight our battles. We need to be quiet and worshipful to know.
