Come Follow Me: Family Time Across the Miles #1
Family Time Across the Miles #1
Dear Family,
Since we all live so far apart and in different time zones, it is difficult for
us to all be together at once very often. So we are going to try to have a
monthly family discussion across the miles. We hope that this is something
everyone will find beneficial and support. We look forward to your input,
suggestions, and discussion.

Also, congratulations to d in her new job and new town. She has done so
much to help out her Grandpa ; and even though her schooling was put on
hold because of unforeseeable changes, we are so proud of her service and
growth.
Please feel free to share other aspects of work, awards, and interests (at
least if you are allowed to.)
Grandpa and I are so proud of all of you and the hard work
you do. You are great people working and playing together as families and doing
great things. We love you all so much. Thank you for being good to each other.
We are pleased with how you are caring for your families and for how you are
teaching them. It is wonderful. You are great Mommies and Daddies and Aunts and
Uncles. We realize that some of you have put off some personal goals to support
yourselves and your families, or to help your companions in their work and
pursuits. The Lord is mindful of all your sacrifices, and He is aware of all
your talents. He will keep giving us all opportunities to learn and grow and to
find joy in the journey.
We are also so thankful that you all stay in touch with us. I’m glad for free cell phone calls and video Messenger calls. It is fun to participate in your homes via technology in real time. It’s an incredible time to be alive.
Discussion Topic #1: “I will
never break my covenant with you.” (Judges 2:1)
I am thankful to know that that Lord is consistent in His
love for us. His promises are sure. I can personally testify that He never
leaves us.
At a low point in my life, when I had chosen to do things out of harmony with
the covenant I made with Him, I still felt His love and His continuing
invitation to come to Him and find happiness and peace in His embrace.
I think sometimes we look at sin and sinners as so marred; and when it comes to
ourselves, we sometimes think we don’t deserve Jesus Christ’s love. We need to
stop looking at our mistakes like that. Heavenly Father and Jesus look at our
sins, or the times we stray from the covenant path, as boo boos. They are ready
to kiss us and make it better.
We do not have to wait until our skinned knees or the bumps on our heads are healed before we run to our moms or dads for love and reassurance. That’s the same with our mistakes. We can take our broken selves to the Lord and He will accept us where we are and then kiss our boo boos and help us in the process of healing.
Song for Discussion: I am a Child of
God.
All of the blessings of the covenants can continually be ours, if we continue
to love Him and give Him our troubles and our hearts.
1. How can we daily remember the Lord so we can feel His blessings in our lives?
2. What are some distractions in today’s world that can keep us from being consistent in loving the Lord with all our hearts? How can we balance our time to put the Lord first?
3. What can we do to help each other make and keep covenants with the Lord?
4. How does following the Lord’s commandments offer us peace and safety?
5. What are the some of the blessings of the covenant?
Please share your thoughts and feelings. There aren’t right
or wrong answers in family discussions, but I believe there are insights we can
all gain as we share our thoughts with the people we love the most.
We love you all. Have a happy June and stay in tune.
Love,
Dad and Mom, Grandpa and Grandma
P.S. Please contribute to the discussion throughout the month and include your
children and their thoughts. Do you think discussion answers would be best to
do in Messenger’s chat or on our family group page or in gmail replies? Let us
know. HSS
