17 Israelites to eat neither fat or blood.

Sinners are forgiven through sin offerings of animals without blemish—Priests thereby make an atonement for the sins of the people.

5 This is to be done by a priest 26
7 Blood poured at the bottom of the altar 18 25,34
14 When we become aware that we have sinned, then we should repent.
20 Priest makes an atonement for the people, and their sin is forgiven 31, 35
22-24 The ruler should also take an offering when he has sinned and is aware of it.
27-29 Common person should also take offering (female goat without blemish). 32

The people are to confess and make amends for their sins—Forgiveness comes through a trespass offering—Priests thereby make an atonement for sin.
When we know we have sinned, we bear the responsibility to repent and seek forgiveness.
Vs 5 Confession is important
6-7 A lamb or two turtle doves or two young pigeons to be offered for a sin offering and a burnt offering.
8-10 Priest makes the offering for the person, both the sin offering and the burnt offering. Then he is absolved of guilt.
11-12 A poor person can bring flour inside of an animal for a sin offering.
13 The priest shall make atonement for him. He’ll be forgiven. Leftover flour is for the priest as a meat offering.
15-18 A trespass offering is like a sin offering. The person committed a trespass without knowledge he was sinning. Ram broken. Priest offers atonement. Person is forgiven.

The people must first make restitution for sin, then offer a trespass offering, and thereby gain forgiveness through atonement made by the priests.
Vs 4 We should make restitution when we sin against anyone
vs 5 Restore in principle, and add a fifth part to it. 120%
vs 6 Trespass offering; Ram without blemish
7 Priest makes atonement for that person; forgiveness is given
10 Priest wears different clothing in tabernacle and outside of it
12 Burnt offering fires to be kept going. 13
15 meat offerings are made with flour
16 remaining flour is for food for the priests 18
20 the part taken for food for the priests
26 The priest that offered the sin offering shall also eat of it. 29
30 Not to eat the blood; it is holy.

Through sacrifice we gain forgiveness, make vows, consecrate our property, render thanks, and are reconciled to God.
V 1 following: trespass offerings
vs 6 Priests eat of trespass offering
vs 7 Trespass and sin offering are the same.
Vs 8-15ff Thanksgiving and peace offerings. Priest eat the baked goods.
Vs 24 Don’t eat the fat of the animal
vs 26 Don’t eat the blood
Also wave and heave offerings
vs 34 Wave breast and Heave shoulder given to the priests

The Lord asked Moses to bring the congregation to the tabernacle. Priests dressed in their temple clothes. Urim and Thumim too.
Vs 10 ff Moses anointed and sanctified the things in the temple. He anointed and sanctified Aaron and his sons. He prepared sacrifice for the priests to offer.
Moses set the example and offered the sacrifices and clothed and anointed the priests and told them that there days of sanctification would be complete in seven days.
33 And ye shall not go out of the door of the tabernacle of the congregation in seven days, until the days of your consecration be at an end: for seven days shall he consecrate you.
34 As he hath done this day, so the Lord hath commanded to do, to make an atonement for you.
35 Therefore shall ye abide at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation day and night seven days, and keep the charge of the Lord, that ye die not: for so I am commanded.
36 So Aaron and his sons did all things which the Lord commanded by the hand of Moses.

Aaron makes an atonement by sacrifice for himself and all Israel—He and his sons offer sacrifices—The glory of the Lord appears to all—Fire from the Lord consumes the offerings on the altar.
On the 8th day, Aaron took charge of the sacrifices.
Vs 1-4 Moses gave the instructions for the offering and said that the Lord would appear to them that day.
All the congregation came, they were told
vs 6 the glory of the Lord shall appear unto you.
Aaron offered sacrifice first for his own sins and transgressions and then for the peoples.
22 And Aaron lifted up his hand toward the people, and blessed them, and came down from offering of the sin offering, and the burnt offering, and peace offerings.
23 And Moses and Aaron went into the tabernacle of the congregation, and came out, and blessed the people: and the glory of the Lord appeared unto all the people.
24 And there came a fire out from before the Lord, and consumed upon the altar the burnt offering and the fat: which when all the people saw, they shouted, and fell on their faces.

What happens to us when we do sacrifices that are not sanctioned by the Lord, or that are contrary to His will?
Vs 9 Don’t drink wine or strong drink and go to the temple.
Vs 10 It’s important to recognize that there is a difference between holy and unholy, between clean and unclean.
Vs 11 It’s important for us to teach our children the statutes of the Lord.

The Lord commands Israel: Be holy, for I am holy.
Meat that could be eaten and that could not be eaten.
44 For I am the Lord your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy:
45 For I am the Lord that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.

The Lord reveals the law of purification of women after childbirth, including a sin offering.
Days of purification were set much longer if the woman had a girl than if she had a boy.
